Behaviour management

Buderim Mountain State School students are expected to follow the school rules, show respect, and to be considerate and tolerant of others. We are fortunate to have a very high standard of behaviour amongst our student body. When support is required, we have a number of key staff who provide assistance, depending on the year level of the student.
This support includes:
  Assisting all school staff with advice and strategies for student management and updates on regional policy/procedures;
  Supporting high needs' students to manage their own behaviours in a more suitable manner;
  Coordinating programs to promote positive behaviours, emotional intelligence, social skills and resiliency;
  Promoting whole school practices which support the above;
  Assisting families in dealing with challenging behaviours.
We believe that the most powerful and effective behavioural management tool we have is the attention of parents and teachers. That attention needs to be given at the right time, and needs to be used to support the growth of positive behaviours by paying more attention to those interactions and less attention to the negative behaviours. To find out more about positive parenting, visit the Triple P Positive Parenting Program website, and take the free online course developed by the University of Queensland. More information about behavioural management, including useful resources about bullying can be found on the Queensland Government Education’s website here.
